How to Create a Contact Form in WordPress Step by Step

Step 1: Selecting the Most Effective Contact Form Plugin

The first step is to select a contact form plugin for WordPress.

While there are a variety of free and premium WordPress contact form plugins available, we use WPForms on our site and believe it is the finest option available.

The three reasons why we believe WPForms is the finest are as follows:

  • It’s the most user-friendly contact form plugin on the market. In just a few clicks, you can construct a form using the drag and drop builder.
  • WPForms Lite is completely free and may be used to create a basic form (over 3 million sites use it).
  • You can upgrade to WPForms Pro when you’re ready for more advanced capabilities.

Let’s get started installing the contact form plugin now that we’ve decided on it.

Step 2: In WordPress, install a Contact Form Plugin

We’ll use WPForms Lite for this  form tutorial because it’s free and simple to use.

Log into your WordPress dashboard and navigate to Plugins » Add New to install this plugin on your site.

Type WPForms into the search field, then click the Install Now button.

After you’ve installed the plugin, make sure you activate it.

Step 3: In WordPress, make a contact form

You’re ready to construct a form in WordPress now that you’ve activated WPForms.

Go to Add New from the WPForms menu in your WordPress dashboard.

The WPForms drag-and-drop form builder will open. Begin by giving your form a name, and then choose a template for it.

You may modify the fields by clicking on them. You can also drag and drop the field order with your mouse.

Simply choose from the available fields on the left sidebar to add a new field.

When you’re finished, hit the Save button.

Step 4: Configure Notifications and Confirmations for Forms

It’s critical to properly configure the form notification and form confirmation now that you’ve constructed your WordPress form.

After submitting a form, your website visitor will get a confirmation page. You may send them a thank-you message or direct them to a particular page.

The email you receive after someone fills out the contact form on your WordPress site is known as a form notification.

You may change both of these settings in the WPForms form builder’s Settings tab.

The default Thank You message in the form confirmation is normally left blank. If you like, you can alter it to redirect to a certain page.

Step 5: Incorporating a WordPress Contact Form into a Web Page

It’s time to add your WordPress form to a page now that you’ve finished configuring it.

The first step is to either build a new page in WordPress or alter an existing page to which the  form will be added.

To embed the form on a page, we’ll use the WPForms block. Simply search for WPForm using the add new block option, then click to add it to your page.

The WPForm block will now show in your page’s content section. To pick the form you made previously, select it from the drop down option.

WPForms will provide you a preview of your form in the editor. You may now save or publish your page and check it out on your website.
